At Tuesday night’s Sports Club AGM, I was very pleased to be appointed as the Chairman of our Sports Club, replacing George Fisher. I believe that the Sports Club is a great present and future asset for both the town and for our present and future members. Under George’s leadership some significant improvements have been made. My view is that these improvements need to be both consolidated and accelerated. So, as the new Chairman of the Sports Club, my first three priorities will be to:
Understand and prioritise what our members, in each of the sections, value about the sports club and want it to be and do going forward.
- Organise and run a business planning process that will enable us to establish resourced and timed plans to achieve these priorities.
- Establish and operate a more robust, business oriented, management of both day-to-day business and the execution of the plans for these priorities.
With regard to the first of these – what do we want from our Sports Club – I have already started meeting with the committees of each section to understand their views. If any of you have strong opinions that you wish us to consider in this process, please could you send me a note at firstname.lastname@example.org
with a copy to the chairman of your section.
Once we start the development of our business plan we will probably need to form project groups to work on each of the priorities, and we will be looking for volunteers to contribute their time, energy, and expertise. I will be in touch again then.
